Set the paper size to 4×6 on a Phomemo

  • In the driver, set the paper to 4.00 x 6.00 in (100 x 150 mm on the metric driver).
  • In the Phomemo app, set label size to 100 x 150 mm before selecting the file.
  • Turn off any Auto fit, Fill or Stretch option in the app.
  • Calibrate with a long press of the feed button so the gap sensor learns the 6 in length.

Recommended Phomemo settings by device

Mac

  1. 1Install the Phomemo macOS driver for the PM-241 or PM-246 and add the printer.
  2. 2Open the converted PDF in Preview and set Paper Size to 4.00 x 6.00 in.
  3. 3Set Scale 100% and uncheck Scale to fit.
  4. 4Set Density to about 8 of 15 in Printer Features.
  5. 5Save as a Preset so Preview stops defaulting to Letter.

Windows

  1. 1Install the Phomemo driver and open Printing preferences.
  2. 2Set the paper to 4 x 6 in, Portrait, with print scaling None.
  3. 3Set Density 8 and Speed 4 ips.
  4. 4Apply, then print the 4 × 6 PDF at Actual size from Adobe or Chrome.
  5. 5If the preview shows margins, the paper size did not take; reopen preferences and Apply again.

iPhone

  1. 1Pair the printer in the Phomemo app over Bluetooth.
  2. 2Convert the label above and save the 4 × 6 PDF to Files.
  3. 3In the app choose Print document, set label size 100 x 150 mm, and turn Auto fit off.
  4. 4Pick the converted PDF and print one label as a test before a batch.

Android

  1. 1Pair in the Phomemo app, or use Mopria on the Wi-Fi models.
  2. 2Set label size 100 x 150 mm in the app first.
  3. 3Open the converted 4 × 6 PDF from Downloads through the app's document option.
  4. 4Set density around 8 and print one test label.

Fix labels that print tiny, off-center or across two labels

The label prints small in the middle of the label
The app or driver is fitting a letter page onto the label. Convert to 4 × 6 first and set the label size to 100 x 150 mm.
The image is stretched or squashed
An Auto fit or Fill option is on. Turn it off; the converted PDF already matches the label aspect ratio exactly.
The print runs onto the next label
Long-press the feed button to calibrate with the roll loaded, and check that the app label size is 150 mm rather than 100 mm.
Printing stops partway through a batch over Bluetooth
Bluetooth buffers fill up. Print in batches of five to ten labels, or use USB or Wi-Fi for bigger runs.
Text is legible but the barcode will not scan
Raise the density a couple of steps and slow the speed. On an M110, also confirm you are on 4 × 6 stock rather than a narrower roll.

About Phomemo drivers

Phomemo's phone app is the main way people use these printers, and it applies its own fit-to-label scaling. Giving the app a PDF that is already exactly 4 × 6 means the scaling has nothing to do, which is where sharp barcodes come from. On desktop, install the driver and treat it as a normal printer.

Can an M110 print 4×6 shipping labels?

Only with 4 in wide stock, and it is tight. The PM-241 and PM-246 are the models built for 4 × 6 shipping labels.

Do I have to use the Phomemo app?

On phones, usually yes. On a Mac or PC the driver makes it a normal printer, which gives you better barcode quality.

What density setting should I use?

Around 8 of 15. Raise it if bars look grey, lower it if they bleed into each other.

Why does the Phomemo app crop my label?

It fits the page to the label and crops the overflow. Feeding it an exact 4 × 6 PDF removes the crop entirely.

Does it print from an iPad?

Yes, through the Phomemo app over Bluetooth, with the same 100 x 150 mm label setting.
